The Linen Tea Towel

The linen tea towel is an heirloom from my grandmother. She has embroidered it with her maiden name initials so it is at least 80 years old. I love the fact that it is of such good quality that it has lasted in daily use for all this time. It is a functional, everyday thing but also one that carries a story. I think of my grandmother embroidering it in the 1930ies. Could she possibly have imagined that it would still be used in 2020 - a number that must have felt very futuristic to her. In our work, we also try to create objects that will last - time travellers that will dwell in homes in 2100.
